Yesterday morning, residents of Brooklyn were waking up to the first tornado to hit the city since 1889. This tornado brought heavy damage. Trees uprooted, car windows shattered, and roofs torn off. A man who rushed to the neighborhood upon hearing about this states "She says 'uncle Jerry, a tornado hit the house'. I said 'what are you talking about a tornado? We ain't in Kansas'." A lot of others were shaken up. This tornado was rated an EF-2 tornado on the enhanced Fujitta scale. This means that winds were between 111-135 miles per hour, which equates to 179-217 kilometers per hour. The same storm took out the New York subway system. This kind of weather in Brooklyn is phenomenal.
